Setting Blackboard Accommodations
If a student receives accommodations, an email will be sent from the Student Support Services Office detailing any accommodations the student may be eligible for. There are two ways to set student accommodations in Blackboard. Once the accommodation is set, it follows the student for the duration of the course for any applicable assessment. This article will show how to set the additional time for test accommodation. NOTE: Student identifiers inside screenshots have been obscured to protect privacy. Select the image to enlarge it.
Set Accommodations from the Course Roster
Upon entering your Blackboard course, select the “Roster” option on the far-right hand side menu to see a list of everyone in the course.

Set Accommodations from the Gradebook
To set accommodations from the Blackboard Gradebook, select the Gradebook menu option at the top of the course, then select the “Students” menu option from the top tab to display a list of all enrolled students. Using the three horizontal dot menu beside the student’s name, select “Accommodations”.

The Accommodations Menu
In both examples above, once the “Accommodations” menu option is selected, a pop-up window will appear on the right-hand side of the screen with a due date or time accommodation. Shown below is a time accommodation giving the student 1.5 times additional time. After entering the accommodation, select “Save” to save your changes.
