Athens Technical College uses Simple Syllabus by Simple Higher Ed as our syllabus management system. This cloud-based program allows faculty to create digital syllabi that students can access from within their Blackboard course.

The solution articleSimple Syllabus Overview, briefly describes our process for publishing syllabi.

All syllabi are built in three layers:

  • Level-1: College-wide
  • Level-2: Master Syllabi
  • Level-3: Course Syllabus

After the Level-1 and Level-2 information and approved, the syllabi are made available to instructors to begin adding the Level-3 information.

Level-3 is the course-level syllabus. Instructors are responsible for adding the required information to the Level-3 sections listed below. When complete, the instructor submits the syllabus for approval. The program or department chair, or division dean, will review, approve, and publish the syllabus for students. Any corrections or additions to Level-3 should be sent to the course instructor.

Instructors access the Simple Syllabus by clicking the link in the Start Here folder of the Blackboard course and enter information in the required sections listed below. See the solution article Simple Syllabus: Building the Syllabus for more information.

After all this information is added to the syllabus, the instructor submits the syllabus to the program or department chairperson for review and approval. Once approved, the syllabus is published, and all registered students are notified. Any changes made after the initial publication must be reviewed and published again. Each time the syllabus is edited and approved, students will receive an email notification.
