Athens Technical College uses Simple Syllabus by Simple Higher Ed as our syllabus management system. This cloud-based program allows faculty to create digital syllabi that students can access from within their Blackboard course.
All syllabi are built in three layers:
- Level-1: College-wide template. College administrators add important information that applies to all courses and students. This information appears in all syllabi, including college-wide policies and resources.
- Level-2: Master Syllabi. Program / Department Chairs add information to the syllabus that applies to all students taking the course. Some examples include learning objectives, grading criteria, and department-wide or program-wide procedures.
- Level-3: Course Syllabus. This is the final step in building the syllabus for students. After the chairperson has added the information to the master syllabus, each instructor can access the document to add their course policies. This is where faculty communicate procedures that each student should consider while completing the course. These procedures may differ between sections (CRNs), as they are determined by the instructor. For example, some instrutors offer extra credit and other don't. This will be clearly communicated in the syllabus.
The sections of the syllabi are listed below, along with the level of access required to add/edit the information.
