In preparation for the first day of the upcoming semester, please take a few minutes to check your Blackboard course to ensure it is ready before the first day. Students will have access to Blackboard at 12:01 am on the first day of the term. Please use the checklist below to ensure they have all the information needed to get started on time.

 

  1. Check Blackboard for your semester courses. Let your program/department chair or division dean know if you don’t see one or more courses you were expecting.
  2. Check the course for content to ensure everything copied in as expected. 
  3. Check for broken links or missing information. If any content is missing, contact your Program / Department Chairperson. As Course Builders, they can copy content from master courses to CRNs.
  4. The solution article, Blackboard Ultra Template Start Here Checklist, has detailed directions.
  • Blackboard Orientation Link – Visible to students.
  • Getting Started in this Course –replace placeholder text in red and remove the word PLACEHOLDER from the title.
  • Instructor Bio and Contact Info – update and replace placeholder text in red and remove the word PLACEHOLDER from title.
  • Simple Syllabus – update the course information using the link provided.
  • Course Pacing Guide -upload the pacing guide for the course.
  1. Students should be able to see the College and Course Resources Module, though some items may not be visible (see below).
  • Athens Technical College Resources – Visible to students.
  • 3rd Party Vendor Links – Visible to students.
  • Course Specific Resources – Update and make visible to students if needed.
  • WebEx Link – Make visible to students if needed.
  • Library Resources – Visible to students.
  1. Review the course and update adaptive release conditions and due dates for modules, assessments, and assignments.
  2. Don’t forget to double-check your grade book settings using the guide Blackboard Ultra Gradebook Checklist.
