Creating a Test Pool in Blackboard Original Course View (OCV)
- Individual Tests will not copy from Blackboard Original Course View, so it is important to create a Test Pool and add individual test items to the newly created Test Pool. If you have existing Test Pools, skip to step 6 in this document. Otherwise, start here: Under your Blackboard Original Course, open the Course Tools menu option, then select Tests, Surveys, and Pools.
- Select the Pools option, then Build Pool. NOTE: This step is only necessary if you do not have existing Test Pools. If you have existing Test Pools, skip to step 6 in this document.
- Name your Test Pool and click Submit. For example: If you are trying to move Chapter 1 test, name it Chapter 1 test pool. You can give it a description, though this is an optional step.
- Select Find Questions and select the test questions you want to add to your newly created Test Pool. You can either select from existing pools, tests, or both. You may select all by clicking the top radio button or open a specific Test Pool/Test and select individual questions by clicking on the box beside each question. After you’ve selected the questions, be sure to click Submit.
- From the next screen, you can delete questions and assign points. Once you are satisfied with your Test Pool, select OK at the bottom of the page.
- Now you have a Test Pool in Blackboard OCV. It is time to export the Test Pool to your Blackboard Ultra course. While still in your Blackboard Original Course, use the down-facing chevron beside the Test Pool title to Export the Test Pool. This export will be saved in your “Downloads” folder, unless you specify otherwise.
- Exit from your Original Blackboard course and go into your Blackboard Ultra Course. Then, select Manage Banks from the right-hand side menu.
- Click the purple plus + icon, select Import File, and select the Exported file that was just saved in your “Downloads” folder. NOTE: If you are moving multiple Test Pools, it may be advantageous to create a desktop folder and move the exported files there.
- Now, it’s time to Create a Test and add your newly imported Test Pool. Locate the purple plus + icon, select Create, then from the Create Item menu select Test, locate the purple plus + icon, and Add Question Pool.
- The next screen displays all available Test Pools that you imported from your Blackboard Original Course. You may select an entire Test Pool, or open the Test Pool and select individual test questions by selecting the box beside each question. There is a search feature that allows you to search for specific terms and a Question Types filter. Once you’ve selected the questions you want to add to your current test, click Add Questions.
- At the next screen, you can select the Number of questions to display, the point value for each question, and Save your changes.
- Lastly, you may View Questions to double-check your test and select the Gear icon
to set additional Assessment Settings, such as due date, number of attempts, and grading category.
