Below is the Instructor Quick Start Guide for the Blackboard Learn Edition of LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor. The guide has directions for preparing a test, installing LDB, taking a test, and how to review webcam videos.
From the Guide:
LockDown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment in Blackboard. When students use LockDown Browser to take a Blackboard test, they are unable to print, copy, go to other websites, access other applications, or close a test until it is submitted for grading. Tests created for use with LockDown Browser cannot be accessed with standard browsers, either.
Notifying Students
You can use your syllabus to explain to students that the use of Respondus LockDown Browser is required for their online tests. Sample syllabus text is provided by Respondus on their Resources Page. Respondus also supplies a Student Quick Start Guide and overview video you may find helpful.
Installation
Students must install LockDown Browser on personal computers before attempting an assignment that requires LDB. There is a link Instructors must provide students so they can download the LDB that is specific to our college. Please submit a CTL Support Request to receive the link to give to your students. Athens Technical College computers already have LDB installed.
