Below is the Student Quick Start Guide for the Blackboard Learn Edition of LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor.

From the Guide:

LockDown Browser (LDB) is a locked browser for taking tests in Blackboard Learn. It prevents you from printing, copying, going to another URL, or accessing other applications during a test. If a Blackboard test requires that LockDown Browser be used, you will not be able to take the test with a standard web browser. LockDown Browser should only be used for taking Blackboard tests. It should not be used in other areas of Blackboard.

Installation

Students must install LockDown Browser on personal computers before attempting an assignment that requires LDB.  Instructors will provide a link to download LDB that is specific to our college. Athens Technical College computers already have LDB installed.

Using LDB

Log into the LockDown Browser before logging into Blackboard

You should never need a password to access your test through LDB.  If you are asked for a password, contact your instructor.

Respondus LDB with Monitor requires a webcam

Your instructor may choose to use the Monitor feature of LDB.  If this is the case, a webcam is required to take the test.  If you don't have a webcam, contact your instructor.
